Design References

Ok,first I really really do not like leave things to the last minute ( but I really do this all the time.)
However, this time there's something different, I have looked up on the internet, visited quite lot of websites, to make sure that I have some good references.
It is painful to choose from so many good websites. It is also hard to have 5 of them have 7 same design characteristics.
Anyway, I've done my best here. They may not shared all 7 characteristics, but I'm sure, they have lots of good point within them.

Because of the rapid development of computer industry, internet become one of the main media for everyone all over the world.

Website is more and more useful day by day, a lot of famous people have their own website, also a lot of designers and artists have their own website. It is a good place to show their works and informations about them.

Here are my references:

1.Paul Wallas

2. Devia
Seven Key Characteristics:
1.Navigation bar:
No matter the website is a personal site or a commercial website; no matter it's a html & CSS base site or a Flash base site, Navigation bar is always the most important thing from my perspective. People can straight way notice what's in the site, what they want to have a look what they don't.
Those websites all have very easy-notice Navigation bar on index page, even some of them a not really good when you click into another page, but anyway, on the index page, it is important to have clear Navigation bar, either on top of the page or on the side of the page.
2.Clear background:
All 5 of the websites have good backgrounds, all the content are on the clear background, even the last one Web Designer Wall have colorful background picture on top of the site, it is still around the main content.
The content of the website is like the soul of the body, without soul all the work will be meanless, so make the content nice and clear is something important as well as make the page beautiful.
3.Hand-writing style Font:
Not all the websites suit for this, but I would say, some of the animation website, and some of the designers' website will use this a lot, it will make the website looks more active, but if we did not control the amount of the Hand-writing style Font on the page, it will makes a big mass.
4.Fixed Navigation bar:
Navigation bar, means to guid people go through the whole website, it is nice to have fixed navigation bar on somewhere on every pages.
People can easily change their position in the website. Also always have "Home" link on the page, so people can always start from the very begining of the website.
5.Title & Logo:
Different type of designer may choose different way to express the name of the website, some of them choose to make logo, and some of them just put the title with the Navigation bar or in the corner of the site.
Logo or Title again can tell people a lot about the site. Big, massive logo can also makes problem for the people who visit the website.
6.Important things on the index page:
Depends on the nature of the website, it is good to concered about what go on to the main page first, and what order should few different important things be.
As my refrences shows, some of them are showing the products of the designer or artists or the workshop group. Some of them shows the news and events they have in their group or company.
7.Holistic of the page:
This including a lot of things, such as Font size, color choose. type of the Fonts, and the icon of the button. It is good to keep one type of icon or just few similar type of Fonts. Keep the style that from the begining of the website, other wise it will be a bit funny when people found different subsites in the website do not match to echer.

Looking for something? Sure I am.

I really don't want to do something really big, that one of the main reason that I choose to redesign the Stonefes site. Also, because this is about UC, so I thought it might have some knid of meaning for me to redesign it- using my own idea.
I am looking for something on the web, on all those beautiful website on the internet. Looking for some "missing things". Something I like, and expecting my website will be like that.

First post!

I'm a really really late starter, and always start with nowhere to start.
Back to uni last week, when to almost all the lectures that I have to study this semester for week 1. Maybe Web Design and Production is the subject that I feel most excited to study with.
But, besides the exciting feeling, I feel kind of nervous about finding reference and start searching website that I'm interested in.
It seems there are lots of differences on the web between different countries. People from different cultures have different perspective about the web use. That means, Website are build so differently.
This is one thing that I'm worried about for my futher study. The other thing is there are so many things that I'm interested in, but I had never try to get into something before. There're so many informations that we can find on the web, so I kind of scared of doing researching things.
Anyway. I'm try to do everything that I can to start learning things, even it's very slow, but atleast I'm keep going.
